
Eric M. Kobren
President and Portfolio Manager
Eric has more than 25 years experience in the investment field. He graduated
cum laude from Bernard Baruch College (CUNY) in 1974. After receiving his MBA
from Columbia University in January, 1976, he worked in professional staff
positions with Merrill Lynch and E.F. Hutton in New York. In 1982, Eric joined
Delphi Management, a highly regarded institutional money management firm in
Boston, as Vice President, Research and Trading. In 1983, he was named Group
Marketing Director at Fidelity Investments.
In 1985, Eric founded the Mutual Fund Investors Association, Inc. (MFIA) and
began publishing Fidelity Insight a monthly investment report covering the
Fidelity family of mutual funds. Today, MFIA provides independent information,
analysis and advice to mutual fund investors through both Fidelity Insight and FundsNet Insight, an additional monthly report covering the funds available
through the fund networks of Charles Schwab, Fidelity and TD Waterhouse, that
Eric began in 1994.
In 1987 he established a private money management service, Kobren Insight
Management (KIM), which manages money for wealthy individuals and institutions
through mutual funds, variable annuities, and individual bonds. Kobren Insight
Management also serves as the investment subadvisor to the E*TRADE Kobren Growth
Fund that he launched in December of 1996.
In 2001, Eric launched Alumni Partners, a hedge fund of hedge funds that focuses
exclusively on hedge funds run by former analysts or fund managers from Fidelity
Investments.
In addition to his role as President and Chief Investment Officer for Kobren
Insight Management, Eric is also executive editor of Fidelity Insight and FundsNet
Insight and is President and Portfolio Manager of Alumni Partners. Eric has
been widely quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The
New York Times, and USA Today. In addition, he has been a frequent participant in Barron's
annual Mutual Fund Roundtable and has appeared on a variety of nationally televised
programs.
Eric is a Trustee of Children's Hospital, Boston, a member of their investment
committee, and Founder of the Boston Children's Heart Philanthropic Committee.
John Russel (Rusty) Vanneman

Management and E*TRADE Kobren Growth Fund.
Rusty has been in the investment business since 1990. Before joining KIM in
2001, Rusty was a Senior Analyst at Fidelity Management
and Research Company’s Strategic Advisors. Previously,
Rusty was a Managing Analyst for Thomson Financial’s Thomson Global Markets.
Rusty received a B.S. in management from Babson College in 1988, where he graduated
with High Distinction. Rusty holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation
and is a member of the CFA Institute.
In November of 2005, Kobren Insight Management, the Kobren Insight Funds became
part of E*TRADE Securities LLC. MFIA and Alumni Partners are separate companies
not
affiliated with E*TRADE
